The Q&A of Engine Troubles

These ‘Q&A’ content is recorded based on experience and case of our company. The engine troubles could not be the common symptom of all engines, therefore, this could be the reference for discussing the reasons of troubles.

Q1 The abnormal noise from the inner of the engine

Analysis

Reasons The foreign matter interfuse into the new engine caused by the damage of valve or the damage of piston and the connector of piston, the damage of turbine before replacing the old engine, which caused the noise between piston and magnetic head.
Characteristic Because of the different temperature, the noise varies. It sounds like from the magnetic head.
Countermeasure Cleaning the inner of manifold (IN&EX)thoroughly, when change the engines. (We stick the tag of urging customers cleaning on the renewed engine)

Reasons Forget to assemble the drive board (for AT) and the spacer of crank ends
Characteristic The noise can be heard from the box of engine oil, transferred via crank. When the crank is running, the gear is rolling but cannot be pulled out.
Countermeasure The engine needed gasket: please do not forget to insert gasket into the engine. We stick the tag of urging customers cleaning on the renewed engine

Analysis

3
Reasons There are chap and bad situation, so it leads to the vibrating and beating noise. (Such problem is only in AT)
Characteristic The noise transmits to crank, and can be heard from the box of engine oil.
Countermeasure For the installation of engine, please double-check the drive board. Please pay much attention to the chap around the fix position of crank.

Analysis

Reasons Forget to insert the positioning water hammer while connecting engine and transmission, so there is the eccentricity between the crank and the transmission (transducer), the transducer is rolling eccentricly, the vibrating noise and the noise from the box body occurs
Characteristic It sounds like the noise from the back of engine or from the transmission. There are too many cases of big noise.
Countermeasure There are two positioning places, so two positioner must be placed. Please do place the positioner while installing.

Analysis

Reasons The problem caused by no installation of the guide bearing for MT and the pressing transducer for AT.
Characteristic The noise can be heard near transmission, and the vibrating noise from the inner engine oil box.
Countermeasure For the installation of engine, please do not forget to insert the guide bearing and the pressing transducer. Additionally, do check the capability of such parts.

Q2 The white smoke (petrol engine)

Analysis

1
Reasons The engine with PCV valve: in terms of the fix of PCV valve (the valve is fixed under open ), the mist is absorbed into combustion chamber by manifold, then the white smoke comes out.
Characteristic It seems the symptom of the descent of engine oil and the leakage of the rubber tube or the leakage of engine oil from manifold.
Countermeasure Please do inspect the movement of PCV valve. The replacement is recommended for the bad performance.

Reasons For the engine with PCV valve: in terms of the fix of PCV valve (the valve is fixed under closed), the mist increases the inner pressure of engine, so it influence the circumfluence of engine oil of turbine which leads the leakage of turbine body.
Characteristic Because of the increase of inner pressure caused by the air leakage, the oil is easily leaking. Because the engine oil is leaking from the shaft of turbine, it leads to the misunderstand of bad performance of turbine. But replacing the turbine cannot solve the problem.
Countermeasure Please do check the movement capability of PCV valve. The replacement of PVC is recommended even if any suspicion of bad performance.

Analysis

Reasons In the period between changing engine and consuming engine oil, the left draff in catalyst and muffle is burning to white smoke.
Characteristic In terms of the consume level if engine oil, the period between the appearance of white smoke and the burning-out of the engine oil is long. Especially, because of  the turbine, the exhausting temperature decreases, it takes several days to normal running.
Countermeasure Please check the inner of muffle carefully, make replacement if necessary. There are treatment of burning the inner of muffle, however, it would take too long time troublesomely.

Analysis

Reasons When the capability of turbine is not good, because the cleaning area of turbine shaft is big (the swivelling chute is big), because of oil leaking near the import of turbine, the oil is burning in combustion chamber.
Characteristic Uninstalling the import pipe of  turbine, the number of revolutions increases (2000rpm-2500rpm), observing 1-5 mins, then the leaking of engine oil from the import of the engine casting can be confirmed (wipe away the engine oil before confirmation operation)
Countermeasure There the possibility of PCV problems in ‘Analysis 2’, so please confirm before replacing turbine. And please replace the engine oil pipe or the connector tube. (Because of the silt attachment, mostly the flown line of engine oil becomes slender )

Analysis

Reasons When the capability of turbine is not good, because the cleaning area of turbine shaft is big (the swivelling chute is big), because of oil leaking near the import of turbine, the oil is burning in combustion chamber.
Characteristic The inner of manifold is not leaking, but the inner of the cover of the turbine is leaking
Countermeasure Alike the countermeasure in Analysis 4, after the confirmation of no bad performance, if there is no other problem, please replace the turbine, and please replace the oil tube and the connector.

Analysis

Reasons Because of over-fill of the petrol, the circumfluence of the engine oil of the turbine  near the engine, and the lubricant of turbine shaft could fall off to block the engine oil, which could lead to the leaking of the inner of the turbine cover, then it burns to white smoke.
Characteristic The circumfluence of the engine oil of turbine could be seen in the engine oil box and the low level of engine mostly.
Countermeasure Please check the level of filling petrol, additionally, please confirm any blocks in the tube of circumfluence in turbine. There was the block in the cover of coil.

Q3 White Smoke (Diesel)

Analysis

1
Reasons Because of the bad occasion of injection of fuel-injection pump, it leads to white smoke.
Characteristic For the Mechanical fuel-injection pump (except electrical model), the injection occasion shall be adjusted around 5 mins. Intentionally staggering the injection occasion, the white smoke would disappear or increase and turn to black smoke.
Countermeasure Please check the TDC mark of crankshaft pulley. (the baffle of the pulley has the problem of wrong positioning). Next, please install the device of main rolling(the device of dial) on the water pump in the right occasion.

Reasons The white smoke caused by abnormal injection
Characteristic The abnormal nozzle of fuel injection could influence the engine. The inspection of driver balance could discover the problem of the white smoke and valves of engine.
Countermeasure Please reference to the inspection of injection nozzle by expertise (The pressure of injection valve, injection status, the trickling after petrol burning ), please give inspection and replacement under bad status and irregular.

Analysis

Reasons The white smoke caused by the bad pre-heating system (electrical system)
Characteristic The white smoke occurs after the burning temperature of engine increases. Once there is no white smoke when the temperature increases. Meanwhile, it leads to the normal badness of low-temperature start-up.
Countermeasure Please check the performance of spark plug and pre-heater. Make the confirmation on the system if necessary.

Q4 Over-Heated

Analysis

1
Reasons The over-heated caused by the deflation of coolant
Characteristic In the latest design of automotive, it is quite common that the engine is higher than the radiator, the bottle stopper of radiator is opening, or the coolant box is on the radiator. Even if under the idle running, there is no natural deflation. After installing the engine, the over-heated problem occurs.
Countermeasure In terms of different vehicles, there is the deflating tube near the engine (in the import of in-manifold or the drainage), so please force to deflate. Meanwhile, please check whether deflating completely. There are too many incomplete inflation. Additionally, jacking up the front to levering the radiator or using the special instrument can be in effect.

Analysis

Reasons The over-heated caused by the bad capability of coolant auxiliary machinery.
Characteristic No over-heated under the status of low load carrying, but under the inspection of load carrying or the temperature increasing, the over-heated only occurs under high load carrying running. The radiator and the coupling of fan is not only OK or not-good, but also gray area, for the necessary complex factor and the max cooling capability, if the tracing is impossible, it is necessary to distinguish the capabilities.
Countermeasure In the maintenance of the auxiliary machinery of coolant system, please overhaul or replace if necessary. Please overhaul and replace the core storage of radiator, the core storage of the heater, and the replace the connector and tube as well.

Analysis

3
Reasons The over-heated caused by the insufficient burning.
Characteristic When the burning temperature is over the default value (the badness of airflow sensor, the badness of sprayer and the over-pressure of turbine etc), there would be the problem of over-heated caused by the bad coordination of coolant device. Generally, because of the abnormal exhausting temperature, the warning indicator light would be flickering, or the warning indicator is not flickering caused by the complex condition of outer temperature.
Countermeasure Inspecting the burning status of spark plug and the surface temperature of engine, if according with the above situations, please cleaning and handling the particular place with problems.
